Turning data into useful information- the most important responsibility of a data analyst. What do those numbers mean? Where are we going and how do we get there? Do you want those reports by Friday? Sure...why not.

How long will this Big Data boom last? How long will a data analyst be a required presence in a corporate setting? Technological trends point to the power user being the analytical mind behind major decisions. The role of a data analyst will be minimized drastically by the evolution of more powerful BI Technology. Is this too drastic? Well, it might not be a bad idea getting more project management roles anyways. Those of use that depend on technology for our jobs must always be on the forefront of the innovation wave. If we fall behind, so does our usefulness, and eventually we could be replaced by easy-to-use but sophisticated software that can be utilized by mostly anyone.

Before I bury myself in this existential crisis, let me introduce myself. My name is Felipe. I currently work in a big Finance/Technology company. I've been here for almost a year and its been challenging yet very satisfying. I've had the opportunity of tackling important projects that impact day-to-day operations. What can be more satisfying then seeing your projects impact those who work in a different time zone. It's like a little part of me is still at work while I sleep.
