Wendy Abel
I tell stories for a living. I also tell the story of my life, express my emotions, thoughts, and share some of my dreams. I tell my stories through writing. Sometimes it is my story, many times it is your story.
My personal story started in Charleston, SC and continued with a short stay in Georgetown, SC. My story has chapters in Ft. Wayne and Indianapolis, IN, Greensboro, NC, and Chicago, IL. My most recent chapter is in Dallas, TX. Along the way my characters have been a teacher, case manager, program director, compliance officer, and clinic administrator. Currently my characters are a non-profit consultant and a grant writer.
My story often takes me on a search for the next great meal, so I enjoy going to new restaurants then trying to duplicate those meals in my kitchen. Music is my friend in all of my stories, you could say that it is my creative muse that is the background to all of the scenes that play out in my life. My songs set the mood for whatever I am writing, grants, program plans, blogs, poems. When I travel, I like to go to parts of town that the tourists don't go to. I like to go where the locals go...the material there is much more interesting and filled with new and different ideas.
In a perfect world, every story will have a happy ending, and sometimes that is the case, but many times the story just ends. Which is not a bad thing, because then you are ready to read the next book on the shelf, and another story takes you to places you did not even know existed, and provides opportunities you did not even imagine. My story is not over, it continues to be written, every day, in every way, as I go on my life's journey.
