Wendy Kreates

Los Angeles, California

Wendy is a 30-something dilettante currently “art-making" in Los Angeles, California. Growing up in California and Taiwan, Wendy learned from an early age that doodling was fun and now keeps that sense of play and experimentation no matter what the project. Her art is influenced by children's books, cartoons, Eastern-Western typography, architecture, product packaging, logos, web design, cereal boxes, travel and odd conversations.

While attending Claremont McKenna College, Wendy was avidly involved in drawing cartoons, graphic and layout design for the Claremont Colleges Collage Newspaper. After receiving a B.A. in Economics-Accounting, she worked for 10+ years as a certified public accountant and banker in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Taipei, and Hong Kong. In 2013, she decided to take one year off from excel spreadsheets and numbers to reconnect with her creative roots. Since then, Wendy has pursued formal arts education at the Otis College of Art and Design, taking courses in graphic design, character illustration and design, life drawing, letterpress, silkscreening, and color theory.

Wendy temporarily resides in her hometown of Los Angeles, where she enjoys the company of her niece (a pit bull), all things with avocado, and building more neurons in her right brain.
