Wendy D. Phillips
Miami, FL
My current position finds me at a Jesuit School, 6-12, in Miami Florida. We are a 21st century learning community that created a 1:1 program about three years ago. I am the Educational Technologist, which oversees 1600 plus mobile units (iPads), both faculty and student used. I design, facilitate and oversee our Professional Development program as it pertains to Technology, along with summer enrichment programs for students to assist them in implementing the technology into their daily school lives and work. If that doesn’t keep me busy, I also am part of the teaching faculty in both the Computer Science and the Social Studies Departments. I am also the faculty moderator for the A.P.P. Club (Application, Production and Programming Club), which focuses on students developed technology projects. We have had great success with this program / club; our 2013-2014 president has secured an internship this coming summer at Facebook. We have also together worked on several App, which can be found in the iTunes store. I am also about to celebrate my 15th year in education, how time flies. I have a very flexible and extensive employment history that includes college teaching, elementary – high school education, support staff in varies capacities, and at one point my dream position at Apple, Inc., specifically working for Apple Education as an Education Specialist (or trainier for short).
In conclusion, three things I am passionate about ... mobile learning, my daughter, and running!
