Wendy Barr
My name is Wendy Barr. I was born & raised in Denver, Colorado, but am currently residing in sunny, San Diego, California. I obtained my Associate’s Degree from West Valley Community College in Saratoga, California. I returned to Denver to earn my Bachelor's of Art from Metropolitan State College and then proceeded to New York City to get my Master's Degree in Packaging Design from Pratt Institute.
I am currently Senior Full Time Faculty in the Graphic Design Department, with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Online Division. I really enjoy teaching online, I believe it to be prominent in the future of education. My teaching philosophy has been developed through my experience as an elementary and high school art teacher and most recently, as a college instructor. The most successful classes I have taught are those in which there is a high level of student participation. With clear organization, students are more likely to believe they understand the framework of the class and will, therefore be willing to ask questions about sections they do not understand and engage in activities they may not have otherwise embarked on.
Some of my interests include jewelry making and metalsmithing, painting with watercolors, acrylics and pastels and building and crafting. I love working with my hands. I enjoy world travel and have spent a considerable amount of time in Hawaii. I love the outdoors and enjoy an active lifestyle.
