Education is important.

To be successful, especially in this country, you have to be educated. As a parent and teacher I realize the importance of being involved with your child's education. Research shows children's attitudes towards school, their achievement, attendance, motivation, self-concept, and behaviors are directly influenced by the attitudes of their parents towards school and learning.

Providing students the opportunity to receive a quality education within a safe environment are the expectation of the students, parents, teachers, staff and community. This is one of the reasons why I am seeking election to the Desert Sands Unified School Board of Education. One of my goals is to ensure that the Desert Sands Unified School District provides quality instruction that meets the ever changing needs of our students and communities.

I am invested in the community.

I have lived in the community for 33 years and am involved in a variety of boards and groups that work toward the successes of our youth. I understand how effective learning programs help our schools and I am committed to working on behalf of students, parents, teachers, staff and the community towards greater results both now and in the future.

I will provide leadership.

I will work with others to provide meaningful learning opportunities and results within our district. As economic challenges will likely continue to exist in our futures it is important to have leadership that understands the vision for our students, our schools and our communities.

Keeping the lines of communication open is crucial. Board members must be approachable. I believe that a school board position should be a working position and the member must be visible. As a school board member I will be spending real time in the classroom and on the campuses of the individual schools.

My logo is WinWithWendy, but it is not just a logo. It is a message that with quality education our kids win, our parents win, our schools win, and our whole community wins. It is our job to educate our children so they turn into adults that don't tear down our society they build it. When education wins everybody wins.

I pledge to you that I will do my very best on the Desert Sands Unified School Board, and that I will justify your confidence in me.
