Wendy Sadler

Wendy Sadler is the founding Director of the award-winning* science communication company; science made simple, and a member of the Science Advisory Council for Wales.

science made simple offer science shows to schools and families across the UK and overseas and deliver training courses for scientists, engineers and museum staff. Their mission is to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers and to place these subjects within the wider spectrum of popular culture. Since the company began in 2002 it has reached over 250,000 people and has taken to science to alternative events including the Green Man folk festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where their science theatre production was short-listed for a Total-Theatre award.

Wendy was previously the National Schools Lecturer for the Institute of Physics and is also employed by Cardiff University as a Schools Liaison Officer. Prior to this she was Education Manager at Techniquest Science Centre for 5 years during which time she was responsible for developing and overseeing content for all public programmes. She is currently a mentor for the EPSRC advising on best practice in Public Engagement. Wendy was awarded the EU Descartes Prize for science communication in 2007 and has recently been nominated as one of six ‘Women of Outstanding Achievement’ by the UK Resource Centre for Women in SET. She has an MSc in Science Communication (with a distinction for her research project on the impact of informal science presentations on school students) and a BSc in Physics and Music. She is a member of the Institute of Physics and a board member of the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
