WHIRL BAILEY is a Melbourne-born artist who initially began creating beats as a school project in the spawning of COVID-19 lockdown. From a Christian Gospel upbringing surrounded by choirs and music, coupled with his parents infatuation with music in the 60s, 70s and 80s, WHIRL BAILEY’s music is heavily dependent upon finding good vocal harmonic blends, rhythmic bass, arpeggio fillers and synth pads, with the odd dabble in the more modern trap pop style. WHIRL has a vast range of influences and inspirations, from Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson to Kanye West and Post Malone.
His name is a direct homage to former NCAA and NBA star, and current Utah Jazz broadcaster Thurl Bailey, whilst also incorporating his favourite keyboard, the Wurtilizer.
