From writing about the Federal Reserve raising benchmark interest rates to gif’ing your tumblr, I’m your girl.

Before that I worked in Hospitality/Food and Beverage management. I am attracted to brands with a strong identity, building relationships with customers and employees. I’ve done everything from P&L management and inventory control to opening new markets as an employee and management trainer. I’m very good at understanding the core values of a company, and getting others to “drink the Kool-Aid” of those values. Everyone deserves to be excited about the job they have, regardless of what that job is. I like being the person to communicate that.

I have a background in art for film. I went to the Los Angeles Film School. Production design, set dressing and prop fabrication. Left the business when I left California, but I still know how to make mean spiderwebs and can carve you a tree out of foam. Yes, when you Google my name, Whitney Nelsen, you can see my IMDb page, but it is woefully inadequate for explaining what I actually did in the film business.

When I lived in Philly, I wrote for Geekadelphia.

I am a food enthusiast. From cooking at home to going out for dinner to world travel, I want to taste it all. I like video games of all genres, board games, whiskey, and literature in my spare time. I’m kind of a goober.
