Whitney Smith

I am an artist and activist working in a variety of fields, including music, publishing, performance art and theatre. I am best known for my work as the publisher and editor of The Journal of Wild Culture, and Whitney Smith is an artist and activist working in a variety of fields, including music, publishing, performance art and theatre.[1] He is best known for his work as the publisher and editor of The Journal of Wild Culture, and more recently the Whitney Smith Big Steam Band, a 17-piece jazz orchestra that plays my original compositions and great big band classics from the 50s and early 60, my favourite period in that genre. I also co-founded Charlatan Tours (a London walking collective), Shadowland Theatre, EarLick, and Suitcase Theatre, and worked extensively in journalism for various magazines and as a writer-broadcaster for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Many aspects of my career have involved a component of social activism, mostly with a focus on municipal and environmental politics, bioregionalism, community economic development or popular education. I live and work between Toronto and London. My current project is building Wild Culture online.
