I have recently decided to 'semi-retire'. After 40 years in the IT industry, it is now time to follow some other passions.
My passion for sports and keeping fit has been a life-long theme. I gave up contact sports and athletics many years ago and have since become a very active leisure cyclist. I love this sport. It provides me with a wonderful mix of social cycling, tinkering with my bikes and of course all of kit that goes with it. Also become an avid follower of the major cycling events throughout the year.
About 5 years ago I was introduced to indoor cycling which has becom a wonderful companion to outdoor cycling. I am now a Level 2 Spinning® Instructor with the Star Trac® UK Spinning® program and coach (I hate the word Instructor) 3-4 classes a week at my local Spinning® studio in Blackwater, near to where I live in Yateley. The Spinning® program has evolved into a wonderful family that regularly meets around the country for training and social events, culminating in an annual weekend of instructor training and socialising in Blackpool every year.
Another passion has always been sprinting - the 'track and field' kind . I have retained my Level 3 UK Athletics Sprint Coaching status and have recently started coaching a small sprint group on Sunday mornings. I very much look forward to the spring and summer when we will be back on the track again.
I am still Rockin' and Rollin' and continue to expand my music collection into many new genres. I love spending some of my time exploring new music to use in Spinning® classes and listening to local live pub bands over a a pint or two with friends.
Rubgy has become my favourite team sport and I support Harlequins, making occassional visits to their ground - the Stoop - whenever time and money permits.
