Emma Wildman
Student in Sudbury, ON, Canada
I am Emma Wildman, an English Literature and Education student at Laurentian University. I grew up on St. Joseph Island in a family of seven, oldest of five children belonging to Jane and Jody Wildman. My two brothers, two sisters, and I spent most of our childhood running around outside and swimming at my grandparent's beach. Most of our extended family lives close by so I have been constantly surrounded by an abundance of aunt, uncles, and 27 younger cousins!
I have loved photography, dance, and music for as long as I can remember and am a certified highland dance teacher. I play piano and guitar and sing in a small group with my sisters. We have fittingly been dubbed "The Wildman Sisters" by those who have watched us grow and encouraged us as musicians. I also do some small photography jobs, mainly for friends and family.
Teaching has been a goal for me since I was in kindergarten and being surrounded by so many children for my entire life makes the position feel natural. At some point in high school I had decided not to teach as my mother, three of my grandparents, and a great-grandmother were all teachers and I wanted to be different. Clearly, after trying to find something else for a short time, I realized that teaching was something I was really driven to do and something that feels natural to me. I am really excited to finish school and begin influencing students in a classroom of my own some day.
