Kip Wiles

Kip Wiles is a Doctoral Candidate in the Curriculum and Instruction program at the University of Denver's Morgridge College of Education. She has worked for the last eight years in public and private education as a classroom teacher, math interventionist, gifted and talented resource teacher, gifted and talented building coordinator, and high school lacrosse coach. She currently teaches fifth grade at Willow Creek Elementary School.

Her research interests include linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse gifted learners, issues of underrepresentation and identification in gifted education, creativity, parenting practices of gifted children, and culturally relevant instruction.

Kip is affiliated with a number of professional organizations including: the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), and the Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented (CAGT).

Recently, she participated in the NAGC graduate student research gala, sharing her paper Culturally Responsive Teaching of Gifted Students. Her dissertation will focus on the parenting practices of immigrants raising gifted children.

An avid marathon runner, Kip can be found most mornings pushing her 16-month-old son Griffin around the greater Denver metropolitan area. She also finds great joy playing each summer on the beaches of Cape Cod with her husband, Matt, and son.
