From my very earliest memories I have been building. Beginning with my Legos that I always needed more of building various things such as space ships and cars. I have always been very passionate about engineering and building. My mom to this day tells everyone about how I built an American flag on a flagpole at age 3 to anyone who will listen. This led into my favorite game of all time that I played from 5 to today, called Spore. This game is about starting off as a single celled organism and then evolving to the point where you colonize the galaxy, the whole time guiding the evolutionary process and designing each of the vehicles.
In middle school I tended to be a tinkerer, always watching videos on interesting machines that weren't terribly difficult to make. But are extremely cool, such as a Mott Jacob's ladder (which I would recommend looking up).
This eventually led me to joining the robotics team in highschool, which was one of the best decisions of my life. During this time it became clear that the field of engineering was where I belong. I learned how to address problems in building and general skills relating to power tools and machines, or even just being able to screw something in quickly. This ended up being a sort of obsession where I would come into school at 6am and work until 8:25am when school started and then when school ended I would come back and work from 3:40 to 8pm. The picture attached is a robot that the North Forsyth robotics team built together at FRC (first robotics competition).
