Prior to accepting his position with the University of Washington he held the position of Director Professional Liability Claims at Sedgwick in their Long Beach, CA office. Previously, he was with ProAssurance in their Las Vegas, NV and Madison WI offices where he managed exclusively medical professional liability claims and suits for hospitals, physicians and other healthcare providers. He has actively managed claims and litigation in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Illinois, Nevada, Iowa, California, New Mexico and Nebraska. Will has been in general and professional liability claims for most of his career, specializing in the management of medical malpractice claims and litigation since 2004. His career in insurance and litigation management has included positions with Allstate, OHIC (now The Doctor’s Company) and ProAssurance. He is an active member of “The CLM” (Claims Litigation Management Alliance), he sits on the Board of the Professional Liability Defense Federation (PLDF) and is a member of other professional organizations, especially those in the ASHRM family. He has presented at national conferences on such topics as litigation management and the claims perspective of the potential benefits and pitfalls of an "apology" in the medical malpractice legal and claims setting.
