Hi, I'm Will. I am a secondary school teacher in Warrnmabool in Victoria, Australia. I am really passionate about the teaching of local Indigenous history and culture in south-west Victoria. My Phd focus is on teaching local Indigenous history using virtual reality. I have a strong interest in the use of technology in education, although I wouldn't call myself a technology 'evangelist'. I am also interested in post-colonialism and the way that it shapes digital and virtual spaces and the bodies within those spaces. Part of my research will be to design and build an immersive virtual space that will allow students to take on the role of an indigenous person on a local reserve during the 1950s. Concepts such as empathy, presence, indigeneity. body ownership and body transfer all fold in to what I am hoping to research.
