I would like to share an experiencee I've been through in my life, that has changed me to this very day. This life altering experience I had came my junior year in high school. I had been on the lacrosse team two years prior to this season. I watched two years in a row as my upperclassmen fell to their knees in tears after a loss in the playoffs, their final games in high school had come and gone and here they were...crying on the field.
After seeing this happen twice before my junior year I was determined to pull my team together, as a captain it was my duty to give my team the tools they needed for sucess. We organized captains practices, had film sessions, and even ran extra sprints just hoping that would give us a slight edge over the competition. Thanks to our dedication and preparation, we sucessfully won the 6A state championship two years in a row. More importantly I never had to drop to my knees in agony as I relaized my lacrosse career ended with an early loss in the playoffs.
I can so closely relate my sucess on the lacrosse field to sucess in English. In order to succeed, all the right parts of the writing process must come together to form a cohesive group that will not bend or snap when tested. Enough evidence must be brought forth that there is no question your claims are valid. It is the same issue in lacrosse, if one member of the team is not fully engaged, then consequences ensue and they will be detrimental to everyone. In summation, the parallel that I have discovered between lacrosse and the writing process has helped me deliver on the field and in the classroom.
