Will Cochrane

I am stoked to be here writing to you as a member of the education community. I have been a teacher for 6 years, but a student for longer with very few hiatusus (hiati?) including summers. This page has been created a part of my learning process, so it will be getting updated quite religiously for at least the 1st month.

What Do I Do?

Presently, Will Cochrane OCT (that's me), has been certified to teacher Religion with the London District Catholic School Board, Music, Drama, English, and Special Education; and has been certified to teach in all grades in both the elementary and secondary panels. Presently, I teach Music and Kindergarten Science, but that can all change, which is why I like to stay up to date and take courses!

A Brief History of Will

I wasn't always this dashing Music teacher! After graduating high school (cough cough) number of years ago, I worked in a food distribution warehouse, I worked in sales in a local electronics store (which I ended up managing for a while), made high quality opthalmic glasses (the ones people use to see) for a company (which again, I worked my way into management), all while going to post secondary to study Drama in Education. I became enamoured with Drama in high school, and saw the positive effect it could have on people through the development of self awareness, pride, and socialization. The Arts have a way of doing that. I studied the guitar for a while, and found that if I worked hard, I could be competent. I had fun with it, and I was advised early in my teaching career it would be wise to get qualified in it.

I'm glad I did.

I've been teaching Music for two years now, and hopefully will do it for many more to come.
