Will Desmond

I am a junior studying communications at theUniversity of Washington. I hope to one day work at an advertising or marketingfirm, specifically geared towards sports.

I work part time as a food server at Wally'sChowder House where I have learned a variety of skills that pertain to customerrelations. I am very passionate about truly connecting with people, and gettingto know them. I feel that working in the food industry has prepared me verywell for an upcoming future in marketing and advertisement. I know how toconnect with people, and I know what people like.

I have also spent time volunteering at the St.Vincent de Paul food bank in Georgetown. I have logged over 500 hours ofcommunity service there, and have learned many quality life skills from thecustomers. During my time at the food bank, I was constantly thrust into a newenvironment where I was forced to adapt to my surroundings. To do so, I knewthat I needed to connect with the customers on a more personal level.

Currently, I am working towards gaining aninternship in advertising or marketing so that I can continue to pursue that asmy career. I feel like this is a suitable career for me because of my vastknowledge of people. I am very confident in my ability to deeply connect with avariety of different people. This allows me to see the world through different perspectives, which I believe to be vital when proposing an advertisement or creating amarketing plan.
