Will Hubbs

Will Hubbs was born and raised just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2012 with a BSE in Recreation Administration, and is currently working on a Master of Science in Recreation and Sport Management from UT. While working on his Masters he has done research in risk management in summer camp and parks and recreation settings, the legality of public prayer before sporting events at public institutions, and for his thesis is researching the feasibility of e-learning for summer camp staff.

He has spent the last six years working at Camp Wesley Woods in many roles, but mainly in a role as an Outdoor Education Instructor. Which involves leading groups in various activites ranging from hikes to climbing, caving, or paddling trips. After working as an Outdoor Ed Instructor he worked as the Summer Adventure Director at Camp Wesley Woods during the Summer of 2012, where he trained and supervised the Summer Adventure Staff. In 2013 and 2014 he worked as the Suppoer Staff Coordinator and Aquatics Director where he supervised high school aged staff who supported the camp's operation as well as the aquatics staff.

In order to continue his career in the Outdoor Recreation industry, he has taken many opportunities to continue his education, by taking courses from companies such as On Rope 1 Inc. in technical rigging, as well as River Leadership from the Nantahala Outdoor Center. He has also been certified as a Wilderness First Responder, in order to be able to be the risk and injury management leader on trips that he leads. He is also certified as a Lifeguard Instructor and WIlderness and Remote First Aid Instructor by the American Red Cross.

In his spare time he enjoys hiking, whitewater kayaking, reading, road trips and attending music festivals. He has been a life long Tennessee Volunteers fan, as well as an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls.
