William Maliepaard

St Lucia, Zululand. South Africa

Hi my name is William Maliepaard and I am a photo/video iJournalist operating mainly in the Elephant Coast region from Ponta do Ouro, Mozambique to St Lucia in the South. I spend most of my time camping in some of the most spectacular game reserves in Southern Africa and take photos and video often producing short documentaries on conservation issues in the region and blog the experience for all to appreciate.

I have a Bsc degree in Forestry having majored in Nature Conservation, which I practiced for a few years after obtaining my degree working from Jonkershoek , in Stellenbosch and doing research in the Cedarberg. At that stage I was doing a lot of computer programming, which resulting in me ultimately leaving and starting my own business after studying Jazz Music for a year. I have had a few companies in my life and you can read more about these adventures on Linkdin (za.linkedin.com/pub/william-maliepaard/2/62a/b14). I however promised I would return to my passion always honing my skills spending time in the bush and taking photographs. I have sold my companies now and have made that move and for the past two years and have focused my attention on my new business African Rhythm.

African Rhythm is all about educating people to live an ECO stimulating lifestyle to ensure they mange their day to day life without losing it! To do this you have to concern yourself about 6 major issues being : Family and Love, Social life, Sustainable Financial issues, Spiritual issues such as doing things for no return (not religion), Intellectual stimulation and Health. If you do not manage each of these issues regularly and giving equal attention to them your wheel will wobble and so your passage through life. We prefer the ECO natural outdoors lifestyle away from day to day distractions such as TV, Politics etc. and recommend accommodation that has a low ECO footprint when you do get outdoors to live this balanced lifestyle.

I visit game reserves on a regular basis and rate each based on the impact they will have on your lifestyle and often invite people to join me to learn more about photography or videography or even the ecosystems we visit to stimulate their day to day lifestyle. I have a Wrangler Jeep to handle tough off-road conditions, which I often find myself in and tow my 4x4 camping trailer with me to enjoy camping in style.
