William Garvey
In the span of a 50-year career in civic service, Dr. William Garvey has served in numerous administrative positions. Dr. William Garvey has acted as President and Chair of sixteen different civic, fraternal, and religious organizations, including the Erie chapter of the Pennsylvania Economy League, the Rotary Club of Erie, Gannon University Alumni Association, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Greater Erie Bi-Centennial Commission, the Diocese of Pittsburgh, the Mercyhurst chapter of the American Association of University Professors, and the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania. Furthermore, Dr. William Garvey has also served on the boards of trustees for the Erie County Historical Society and Museum, the Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority, the Erie County Public Library, the Greater Erie County Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Edmund L. Thomas Adolescent Center, the Hamot Health Foundation, the Irish American Partnership, the Metro Health Center, and the local Torch Club. Dr. William Garvey primarily invests his time as the founding President of the Jefferson Educational Society in Erie, Pennsylvania, dedicated to promoting community progress throughout the region. Dr. William Garvey's non-profit think tank and adult education center has been advancing the education system and civic development of Erie County since October 2008. In his leisure time, Dr. William Garvey enjoys basketball, lecturing, reading, studying history, and writing.
