I spoke perfectly before I could walk. Oh, and jumped off a plane as soon as I turned 18 (with a parachute, of course). What do these two events have in common? I was probably wetting myself, and I made it seem as if I was feeling totally comfortable to everyone else’s eyes.
It has always been important to me to influence the way those who are around me perceive the world, and appearing in control even if I am not. I have always felt at ease when speaking and communicating the message I want out there. I guess that is why I am always attempting to learn another language, apart from the three that I already speak fluently (Spanish, English and French), because I do not want to feel disconnected from the world.
I presume this is why I have embarked in journeys abroad my home, Colombia, and ventured in different countries hoping to absorb as much knowledge as I can from the diverse cultures that I have there encountered. Living in Los Angeles, California, is not easy, especially without a car, but I thrived to complete a Media & Art program in the entertainment capital of the world.
I suppose it is also the reason why I decided to move across the pond, to France, to complete my studies in a new learning environment, and to experience all the influences that this society has as well as its very own culture.
I'm a firm believer that it is this contact with other people what keeps me interested in discovering how I can improve to become my better self and contribute in meaningful projects. In the words of Chris Brogan, “Who cares how many hours you're working or not? How much value are you delivering? That's the real question.”
From where I am standing, these words do not only have a relevant meaning in work-related activities, but in life as a whole. One should strive to not only be good at what they do, but to be one of, if not, the best at it. This has been a personal mantra of mine for years now, and if it is also one of yours, maybe bumping into this page was not just pure casualty.
