William Mungall

Los Angeles, CA

William Mungall was raised in Holland, Michigan. Due to his family’s constant travels, William saw many parts of the United States, including San Francisco, Boston, and upstate New York. This extensive travel gave William a chance to learn about and explore the ever changing, built environment around him. He examined museums, schools, churches, restaurants, factories and any other unique or interesting building.

As William got older, his love of architecture truly began to take shape. His parents encouraged his passion with art classes, books, and even trips to architecturally important locations.

Deciding to get his degree in studio art, William attended Kalamazoo College. While there, he became the first Kalamazoo student to be accepted into the Denmark International Studies program in Copenhagen. At the time, William was not aware that the administrators of the program accepted him because of his tenacity during the application process. They saw him as a test run because he was the first undergraduate and non-architecture major allowed into the program.

It was during this time that William solidified his career path and pursued a Masters degree in Architecture. William studied at both the University of Michigan and Technische Universität Wien during what ended up being some of the most memorable years of his life.

After graduation, William took a position with a Chicago based architecture firm which specialized in loft conversions, residential design, and large multi-family complexes. After gaining invaluable experience in Chicago, William relocated to California, where he continues to focus on his love of residential design with Landry Design Group. For the past 12 years William has been a part of projects all over the globe and has developed a love of travel.
