William Pitts
I am a photographer and graphic designer that collects anything well designed with forethought and care. I am an artist and I take seriously the role of an artist in society.
I believe art is a valued ingredient to every fulfilled, satisfied, complete life.
I began capturing images in 1982 and haven't stopped since. There was no Photoshop, no one had a digital camera and the art of producing a photograph was a risky propostion. There was no preview and everyone, professional and layman, was more selective with images chosen to be captured. This is how I learned photography and this is how I shoot. I like the component of risk in the decision to photograph a person, place, or thing. Film is risky. Shooting with film is skydiving everytime you use it. You never know the outcome until the end. There is no delete and retake. You either get the shot or you don't and therefor you take greater care with the opportunity. Somethings are not meant to be photographed and some are moments that should be captured and shown to the world forever. The good photographer knows the difference between the two. The first question after deciding to photograph anything should be "Why?".
