William Randy Fry

The recipient of an honorary PhD from Santa Clara University in recognition of his contributions to the technology industry, William Randy Fry formerly served as the president of Fry’s Electronics in San Jose, California. His involvement in the tech industry includes a period as chairman of the Consumer Technology Association, which organizes the influential CES trade show every year. William Randy Fry also promoted legislation intended to address tax disparities between online retailers and brick-and-mortar stores by allowing states to require remote sellers to collect sales tax.
In addition, Mr. Fry has engaged in a range of public-spirited activities in San Francisco, San Jose, and other California cities. He has supported charitable organizations such as the Vernon Davis Foundation, the Elios Charitable Foundation, and the Stand4Lyme Foundation.
