Will Waltrip

Will Waltrip is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin where he is pursuing a B.S. in Geophysics with a business foundations certificate. Will currently works for the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics as an undergraduate research assistant for the Gulf Basin Depositional Synthesis project, or GBDS for short, headed by John Snedden, Patricia Ganey-Curry, and William Galloway. During his work for the GBDS project, Will has gained experience working in a team to accomplish assigned tasks before a given deadline, knowledge of various computer software programs, and education on the basin scale context for oil and gas exploration in the Gulf of Mexico. When Will isn’t in class or working, he enjoys attending the Texas Geophysical Society lectures to further his grasp on what it means to be a geophysicist in the ever-changing world of geophysics. With interests in exploration geophysics, Will intends to enter the oil and gas industry after graduating in May of 2018 well equipped to take on any task given by an employer.
