WILLY WINARKO

Willy Winarko is a young and upcoming rapper from jakarta, Indonesia that has been known for his sharp lyrical abilities, and poetic flow. He is also a student of Universitas Indonesia, Studying business and economics.

born on 9th of march in Jakata, He went abroad for a period of time where he was first introduced to hip hop music, with the likes of dirty south music and gangsta rap. The "wannabe gangsta" willy winarko was born, which was a step into his current position.

Prior to moving back, willy became more interested in poetry, which has influenced his rapping style. from Taufik ismail, to Mos def, it was music with content that he search for. thus, crafting his artistry from here on. Lupe fiasco, Jay z, Kanye west, mos def, nas, talib kweli, are just a few that influenced willy's rapping style.

in 2011, after meeting NSG, he released his first mixtape vol. 1 : The Introduction which was praised by many as one of the finest that Indonesia has heard in a while.

Then following was the mixtape vol 2 : Im New Here which was a remake of Jamie xx's remix album of jill scott heron.

In 2012, Willy was a cast member in a Musical TV series, Iskul Musikal, on RCTI. Then became a member in the spinoff musikal group, Iskul 9.

later that year, Due to a severe case of Encephalitis, he was left in a coma for 2 weeks, which held up his music career and his school. after a struggling battle, willy finally woke up, and was released from the hospital on 20th of august, 2012, on the day of ied that year.

after the coma, he has been recovering fast, and have been focused in writting and making music.

Now he is ready to release his mixtape project vol. 3 , and preparing to launch his album early this year.
