Wilma Klass

An experienced TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) professional, Wilma Klass has held positions in both the private and public sectors, as well as academia. Early in her career, Ms. Klass worked for ACTION (Peace Corps, VISTA) in a variety of capacities. Among her responsibilities with the organization, she served as as a Recruiter Coordinator in Boston helping to find qualified volunteers for projects around the country. Wilma Klass later accepted the position as Affirmative Action Officer for the city of Newton, Massachusetts. In this capacity, she developed an affirmative action plan that served as the model for neighboring communities.

Following her tenure in Newton, Wilma Klass worked for the United Nations, both in the Department of Technical Cooperation for Development and the Department of Public Information. She then took on the role as the Project Manager for the Second International Science Study Project at Columbia University. After opening a restaurant in Astoria, New York, she went on to teach English to speakers of other languages at ASPECT, Long Island University, Nassau Community College, and the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in Nassau County, New York.

She holds a Master of Arts Degree from Columbia University in New York.
