William Ruggiero

I recently graduated with my masters from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Art history, theory and criticism. My two main focuses are Latin American modern and contemporary art as well as socially engaged art practices. My thesis research concerns the work of Venezuelan artist Domingo Alvarez and his relationship to modernization during the sixties, namely urbanization and petroleum culture. I have a background in teaching, community and public school programming, hence my interest in social engagement in the arts. Both of these fiends also cross into my curatorial pursuits, in which I'm also invested. I am also part of a curatorial/research collaborative known as JGV/WAR that is based in Chicago. Email me with thoughts of cross-interests or collaborations.
