Windey Prado-Avendaño

Cebu, Philippines

Windey Prado-Avendaño acquired Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education at the University of Cebu and finished her masters at Mandaue City College. She was an Outstanding Performer in the field of Communications Arts and won Golden Harvest Award in the entire region although she does not have formal music training. She’s currently working as faculty at the College Teacher Education department of the University of Cebu-Main Campus.

She was full scholar of the UC Theater Workshop Company during her college years. Her theatrical experience includes Siddhartha (a musical play about Buddha’s life and journey) as Queen Prajapathi last 2007 and this year 2015, she’s Queen Maya and will be on concert touring Asia again. She has represented as well as a national finalist in the National Music Competitions for Young Artists at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Also, she will be singing to represent the Philippines as a finalist and compete at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) this July 2015 in Hollywood for a New York Film Academy scholarship.

She has won numerous awards like Best Composition/Performer for the Sounds of Human World Song in Taiwan (2008); Finalist and Winner in Cebu Popular Music Festival (2006, 2012); Best Soprano Performer, Southwestern University (2006); Garbo sa Consolacion Awardee (2004); and the PaStaran Champion (2002).
