Whittling is an ancient practice started by early man as a way to craft tools and has evolved into an art form and a hobby to be enjoyed by all. Whittling is the practice of carving various woods, usually soft wood, into tools or art. The act of whittling is defined as: to cut, trim, or shape a stick or piece of wood by carving off bits with a knife. Whittling appeals to most people as it is a way to connect with our past while creating something out of nothing. Even simply putting a sharp point at the end of a stick can be a gratifying project.
