Jina Kim

My name is Jina Kim and I currently reside in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I moved here after graduating in May 2011 for an engineering job with Ford Motor Company.

A little bit of my background: I was born in Seoul, South Korea and moved to the states when I was six years old. My first language was Korean and I am still able to speak, read, and write proficiently. I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I attended college at the University of Tulsa to obtain my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

I have to admit that I was pretty lucky landing a job with Ford Motor Company. I expressed much interest in working for an automotive company to one of my professors who happened to be close friends with a technical expert in the research facility at Ford. This contact was able to introduce me to a new opening at the Research and Innovation Center. In June 2014, I will have been with the company for three years, in which I have learned an inexplicable amount not only of the professional world, but also about myself. The nearly three years of experience has opened my eyes to so much of the working world that I have developed a passion to further my education by pursuing an MBA. Thinking like an engineer, I like to have clear, black and white answers to solve problems. But I have learned that there are many grey areas that you will face as you develop your career, and these are what I have perceived to be business problems. The business world is a world that I have never been exposed to, and the more I am subjected to solving problems, the more I become interested in determining the best "grey" solutions. I have always striven to be a well-rounded individual, and I am confident that my decision in obtaining an MBA will allow me to do so.

P.S. Is it just me, or is this page impossible to format? I can not for the life of me resize this textbox to fit into the grey area... See?! There's that "grey" area I was talking about again...
