With every moment of my free time, you will likely find me watching a movie. Movies to me, serve as an escape from reality. For the duration of each film, I am taken out of my world and transported to a new place and time, usually, somewhere that is nothing like my reality. That is why movies are so special to me. With each film, I gain a new perspective of the world and with that usually a better appreciation of my own life.
For the longest time, I was really only interested in action movies. I say this because these movies are oftentimes the most entertaining as they keep the viewer on the edge of their seat with non-stop fight scenes, car chases, heists, etc. As I got more well-versed in the world of cinema, I realized that movies shine through the content of their characters. As movies establish their characters, usually done through dialogue, the viewer becomes better connected to who they are seeing on the screen. This is why my favorite filmmakers are Stanley Kubrick and Quentin Tarantino, as their movies are dialogue driven.
I also love movies for the social aspect. There is nothing better than watching a good movie with all of my friends, and then being able to discuss it together. Since I know a good bit about movies, my friends will often ask me for recommendations. A lot of times, when I give them recommendations, I will watch the movie with them. Nothing makes me happier than watching my friends experience a good movie for the first time.
I do not think I will ever stop watching movies, there are still so many movies I have yet to see, which means I have so many things yet to learn.
