career choice looks like he made the best of a bad situation. He could not study medicine because he could not stand the sight of blood. He did not want to study law because his parents wanted him to study it. So he settled on Project Engineering.
In 1977, Woodcock Bouchard traveled to the Ontario to study through the invitation of his late godfather Rev. Raymond D. Roche, a Methodist missionary. Woodcock entered University Of Toronto. as a Plant Engineer, but switched to a major in Project Engineering after the first semester.

He felt that he needed to continue his education. Yong chose Oklahoma state university because it offered a position as a Lecturer and opportunities for post-graduate studies and research.
However, Woodcock remained at the university after the formal completion of his degrees. He carried on his research into engineering materials. Particularly, he was interested in the physico-chemical properties of natural soils because it was important to understand how these materials were formed in nature and how they responded to their environment. Woodcock applied his knowledge in material science to the study of Project Designing.
