For nearly 30 years, Woofs 'n Whiskers has been a trusted pet care facility and an important part of Brooklyn, supporting generations of pet owners across Red Hook, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Park Slope, DUMBO, and nearby areas. It began in the 1990s as a small, family-run dog-walking service and has evolved into a full-service pet retreat, focusing on care and community.

In 2004, the original location was turned into a welcoming space for pet boarding, daycare, and grooming. Since then, it has stayed true to its values of comfort, trust, and transparency. With years of experience and a dedicated team, it continues to provide a safe place where pets thrive, and owners can feel confident in the care their animals receive.

Each day at the facility is carefully planned and organized. The flagship location on Coles Street and the new enrichment center on Warren Street are designed to help pets stay active, calm, and comfortable. The structure of the day is flexible, ensuring pets are engaged without being overstimulated, while also avoiding boredom. This helps pets feel secure and settled while in care.

Each pet’s personality, age, size, and comfort level are carefully considered when placing them in the right playgroup. Whether a dog enjoys active play or prefers quiet time, the staff adjusts activities so each pet feels respected and at ease.

The second location, known as Woofs ’n Whiskers, Too!, shows the shift toward enrichment-focused care. This renovated indoor space supports dogs’ instincts by offering a balanced mix of sensory activities and rest, rather than constant high-energy play. Dogs participate in rotating activities that encourage curiosity while providing moments of calm. Shuttle and drop-off options make it easier for owners to access this specialized care.

The team includes trained professionals certified in pet first aid and CPR, with many having advanced knowledge of animal behavior. They stay observant and responsive, reading each pet’s needs and maintaining a safe and calm environment. Clear communication with owners is a priority, providing updates about health and behavior to support continued care at home.

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted many services, the company stayed open, recognizing the need for pet care during a difficult time. A donation program was established to help cover daycare costs for first responders and families facing financial difficulties.
