Thanks for reading Work Life Writer! I am a senior communications professional who specializes in writing engaging content on wellness, work-life balance, healthy work culture and more.

My articles have appeared in the Medical Post, the Queen’s Alumni Review, Queen’s Gazette, Chatelaine, Canadian Health, Kingston Life and Your Workplace magazine, a business magazine devoted to fostering healthy workplaces and businesses in Canada.

The origins of "Work Life Writer" began in my early days of medical and health writing. I began my career working as a medical writer/reporter for the Medical Post, a national newspaper for physicians. I was interviewing international researchers in family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry and rural medicine, and at the same time the natural health industry was just starting to bloom. I became more interested in overall health and wellness.

Back then there were not many articles talking about the connection between health, wellness and productivity in the workplace. But as new generations started entering the workforce and they refused to be overworked like their Baby-Boomer parents, a work-life balance movement was beginning to take shape.

Your Workplace, a magazine for business leaders, managers, HR professionals and working Canadians, had already caught on to the healthy work culture concept and the benefits to work performance. In my role as Associate Editor for the publication I helped steer the print and online content for the magazine, wrote articles, blogs and commissioned editorials on healthy work culture.

At Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, I worked as an Academic Assistant for the Queen’s University Writing Centre. I also wrote web content for the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the School of Graduate Studies as the department was expanding enrollment and launching a new recruitment strategy.

In this blog you will find articles about work, wellness, work-life balance and articles about "life". If you have something to contribute, I would welcome your comments or guest blog to: [email protected].
