Why a wren? Because wrens are not flashy or particularly outstanding birds. They are durable and tenacious. THAT is the kind of thing I want to identify with now.

My husband and I retired to a small town in the Blue Ridge mountains after serving overseas with the U.S. government for 22+ years. It is great to be home.

Because of the stressful work I did, and the stressful life I lived (moving to a new country every 2-3 years), I went to a lot of social gatherings and used alcohol as a crutch to get through day-to-day living. Now, I want it OUT of my life so that I can face retirement years with clear eyes.
