Calligraphy is one of the branches of fine art. Calligraphy is also called the art of beautiful handwriting. The modern definition of calligraphy is: "the art of designing characters in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner".

The history of writing is the history of the evolution of aesthetic concepts, developing the technical skills, speed of information transfer and material limitations of a person, time and space. The style of writing, usually described as font, hand or alphabet.

Modern calligraphy is quite varied — from domestic handwritten inscriptions on the cards to high art, in which the expression of a handwritten character does not always generate clear letterforms. Classical calligraphy differs significantly from the script work non-standard and manuscript forms, although the calligrapher should be able to do both; the letters are formed in such forms historically, but they are fluid and spontaneous and is always born at the time of writing.
