Andrea Bing-Brown

For over 30 years, I have worked in the education profession, and have seen firsthand the effects of cyberbullying. I vividly remember dealing with bullying as a kid and the impact it had on me. But the degree of bullying then was nothing like it has evolved into today. Bullying has quickly transformed from teasing to tormenting to promoting abuse.

I refer to today's cyberbullying as "Revolutionary Bullying" because it has taken on an all new form. Using technological advancements, kids can use a variety of sources to cyberbully, and it has quickly become an epidemic.

As a school counselor, my role is multifaceted. However, I am intricately involved in promoting the student's emotional needs so they are available to learn. My contact also involves parents on a large scale. I believe what makes my role as a school counselor unique is my experience as a Mental Health Counselor and understanding intergenerational styles of relating within the family. I help individuals discover their interpersonal styles of relating and where this style generated. Once you understand this, you can make the decision to remain the same or take strategic steps towards living a healthier and more productive life.

I have a passion for inspiring people to strive to their fullest potential despite their circumstances. I grew up with an impoverished mindset which controlled my choices. Now I am a woman who decides daily to embrace her God-given beauty and confidence within. I am rich, I am smart, I am intelligent, I am blessed, I have favor, I am God's child. Once you believe it, you will receive it! THAT'S FREEDOM!

My passion for counseling is not just a career endeavor but has been a part of my life for over 30 years.

I want to take everything I have learned during the course of my career and life, and help spread awareness to parents and other educators about the dangers of cyberbullying and the immediate urgency required to combat this growing epidemic.

I love my children. I love my grandchildren. I have a blessed, full life.
