Doug Mitchell

I'm co-director of a Ford Foundation funded professional development project for minority journalists who have a new media/business idea and need training in making it happen. Doug and his business partner developed and managed four hands-on traveling boot-camps for each of the UNITY partner associations. Through a crowdsource vote of association members, one team per UNITY partner association project will be awarded no less than $5,000 in start-up funding. Overall, each selected team will walk away with a viable business plan, ideas on how to raise capital and make their idea sustainable. We've been re-funded and will be giving away grants totaling $40,000 in 2011 and 2012.
