The environment and its related systems are elaborate and complex, requiring a strong understanding of its endlessly interacting systems to accurately identify the issues within. My education is focused on geosciences with an emphasis on geo-systems and their interactions with human systems. It has provided a strong comprehension of the environment from the micro-scale to planetary scale levels, which will enable me to hit the ground running as I begin my career with your organization.
During my time at Kean University, I studied a wide spectrum of course offerings beyond the basic required curriculum, experiencing opportunities for hands on experience in field and laboratory settings. These experiences have provided the skill set of a scientist with the ability to collect, transport, categorize, and analyze samples in field or laboratory settings. Doing this, I performed analyses using spatial, temporal, numeric and graphic models to best explain and represent data. In order to perform these tasks, I learned to use software including ArcGIS, Mathematica, Metlab, VBA, and the Microsoft office programs. I also utilized technology such as GPS devices, a variety of sensors, and hand tools that were used to build or fix equipment when needed.
During college I worked an array of part time and seasonal jobs into which I was able to integrate my passion for the environment. This can be seen in my internship at Mount Washington and my work as an ocean rescue guard that lead to the creation of a lightning safety toolkit for lifeguards now used by the National Weather Service. These positions also allowed me to develop talents such as public speaking, team work, leadership and time management as well as giving me a venue through which to acquire several certifications that further developed my professional skills. Being enrolled in school and working part time jobs fostered a work ethic of which I am proud. I process a work ethic that has enabled me to see every challenge through to its ultimate completion and ensure it has a life thereafter with proper planning and implementation.
All of this was done in just a few years. Now, I would like to continue this growth and development with you. References will be provided upon request, and I welcome all questions Thank you for your time and consideration.
