Passionate and enthusiastic about discovering the beauty common to western and oriental vocal tradition, the Chinese coloratura soprano Xiaolu, is now studying at the Royal Academy of Music on the Master of Music programme.

Xiaolu began her vocal study in China with Liying Tang and Xiao’er Li. During her undergraduate study and postgraduate study in Tsinghua, Xiaolu kept training her voice under Yuanyuan Feng. In the Royal Academy of Music she now studies under Catherine Benson and Mary Hill.

As a singer, Xiaolu is interested in all kinds of music and she is active on different kinds of performances.

Currently, Xiaolu is researching on how to combine oriental aesthetic value and western view of beauty when playing opera scenes and how to make them understandable and enjoyable regardless of cultural background.
