I had a wonderful childhood. China has a one child policy, and I am the only child in my family. I had a lot of friends, though. I grew up in the 80s in Beijing, an undeveloped city compared to today. Once I told my American friends about games I used to play when I was little. They thought I was a poor girl because I didn't have any electronic toys. I played with whatever I found - leaves, rocks, even bugs. My friends and I came up with fun and interesting games to play.

I played volleyball for seven years with a semi-professional team during my youth. Volleyball taught me many things: big progress comes from daily practice; tears will not solve problems; the team is everything; and, never, ever give up your dream. Volleyball had a significant role in developing my personality. I once waited outside a film producer's office for four hours for a chance to talk to him about my friend's screenplay. I like to try every possibility to reach my goal so that I will know I tried my best.

The Beijing Film Academy changed my life. Over 10,000 students applied for admission, competing for 60 available seats in the Theater major. Not good odds, but I wanted it. The audition process was excruciating. I performed five auditions over a full month, surviving each round more motivated and more determined to succeed. When I was selected as one of the 60, I was so proud not only of myself, but also of making my Dad proud of me. He was of the opinion that acting was an easy job – anybody could do it. Well, CCTV (China Central Television), filmed a documentary about the one-month audition process and aired it on TV. My Dad, who is also not particularly complimentary, watched it and told my Mon, "It is hard." haha :)

Love is motivating. I guess. After graduating from the Beijing Film Academy, I worked in the entertainment industry, performed several TV commercials and two TV series. The experience enabled me to make a fateful decision - go to America. I still loved film, butI was thirsty to learn other things. For some reason, my goal changed. I wanted to work in the advertising field.

Four suitcases and 14 hours later, I arrived in another world. Literally starting with learning my ABCs in 2008, but I graduated one year early with a double major from VCU. Then...moved again...

Here I am, a Beijing girl, live in Miami now, still in School. Doing advertising or doing nothing.
