Qi Xu
My name is XU QI and I am a visiting researcher, currently working as a post-doc at University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) for advanced transportation technology. I obtained My Ph.D. from Beijing Jiaotong University, China in 2014.
My research is mainly about self-organized pedestrian crowd dynamics in transportation systems. For example, I study the behavior of pedestrians in urban environment, and tries to find out practical solutions for crowding management in public transportation systems. Besides, I also interested in complex networks, such as structure and dynamics of transportation networks. For instance, I study the network passenger flow for urban rail transit systems and explains the observed temporal dynamics of such networks.
My original background is transportation science. However, prior to obtaining my Ph.D., I have been working as transportation engineer at Guangzhou Metro Corporation for three years. I am now at Center for Advanced Transportation Education and Research (CATER), UNR, in a group of pedestrian safety associated with traffic signal operations, a very interdisciplinary environments.
