Yamani Yansa Hernandez is currently the Executive Director of the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health, a 35 year old state-wide reproductive justice organization that operates as a network of empowered youth and allied adults who transform public consciousness and build the capacity of family, school, and health care systems to support the sexual health identities and rights of youth.

Yamani has been in pursuit of health and healing of individuals, communities, environments and institutions for two decades. As a staunch advocate for youth empowerment she works from an asset based approach in strategic program design, implementation, management and evaluation. Throughout her inter-disciplinary work history, she has worked with diverse populations of people on topics ranging from art & design based activism to cultural critique to personal and community development, work-force development, civic participation and philanthropy. She uses both a creative and analytical skill set to tackle the most critical challenges of our time: equal opportunity and access to liberatory education; mental/physical/environmental health and economic security for all.

Yamani co-parents two amazing children and in her spare time, she practices yoga, meditation, and massage therapy.
