Experience: a lot but far from perfect !
I have significant clinical experience in diagnosis and treatment of children, adolescents and adults with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders including Asperger's, Tourette/tic disorders, OCD and as well as counseling and management of associated life problems in school, work and family.
I am happy that I was able to spend first half of my professional career (and youth:) in the best academic and research centers of Turkey and the US. Although, I am currently not as involved as I should and want to be, in active cutting edge neuroscience research, this past experience with leaders in the field of developmental psychopathology and neuroscience gave me a strong background for understanding and applying the best of science into my clinical work.
Recently, I am increasingly more able to collaborate with different research teams such as the Yale-ACEV collaboration for understanding early childhood formative experiences and peace. So back to the research arena!
As a relative local innovation, I could establish a school mental health team in my office to increase the effectiveness of our work with children, their families and their schools. We provide guidance to the child, parents and school teams for fully including a child with some form of difficulty into the academic and social life of the school.
As a professional speaker, ('professional' means compensated for my time away from my practice while preparing and giving the talk), I am now somewhat established as a speaker to the families and educators about developing brains and minds, as well as to the business/corporate leaders about how to make the best of the understanding of neuroscience, human development and psychology.
