Yanping Zhang

Greetings, I’m Yanping Zhang, you can call me Cathy, or Cathy Zhang (cuz there is another lovely Cathy in our class~). I’m from Deqing, Zhejiang province, which is known for the Mogan Mountain. It is quite a pretty and peaceful place. I do recommend you to make a holiday trip there if you have any time. It will be worthwhile.

Before coming to CityU, I was studying in Beijing Language and Culture University, while then my major was Accounting, a discipline which I was not sure whether suits me or not. It was my exchange experience in London that finally helped me find out the answer to this question. The year spent abroad, far away from my country, friends and parents gave me a lot of chances to reflect on myself, on the meaning of life and on what I really want within the limited and unique life I’ve been given. Thus after returning to China, I tried a job of teaching English in an educational institution for more than half a year. I quickly realized that this is exactly what I want to take as my future career, although it seems a little bit challenging for a non-English major. That’s why I came here and study this program.

"You Live Only For Once" is my motto. So I’m trying to get rid of some of my drawbacks now and would like to try as many things as I can, just following my heart. I’m interested in many things including traveling, cooking, jogging, movies, photography and especially reading. The freedom one can feel while indulged in reading is really amazing and fascinating.
