When I first played an instrument when I was a kid, I had no idea what I was doing. For a year, I kept showing up for drum lessons when I was six years old. And before I knew it, I was enrolled at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music, doing my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance, Major in Percussion.

Performing was something enjoyable for me but it wasn’t until I joined a university-produced musical as their drummer did I realize how much I enjoy performing. It was this passion and drive that gave me the courage to apply for my first teaching position at Sonore Music Philippines, hoping to start the spark in people of all ages when it comes to music and performing.

Currently, alongside finishing my Bachelor’s, I teach the drums and piano at Sonore Music Philippines’s Taft and Makati branches. I am also a recipient of the prestigious UST Santo Domingo de Guzman Scholarship for the Gifted, performing alongside the UST Symphony Orchestra and the UST Wind Orchestra. I am also available for sessions as a drummer for various bands and soloists.

If I had to describe what music genre I play, I’ll proudly say “all of them” because it’s true. It is through being thoroughly involved in the industry that I realized that being a musician means that there are no limits to what they want to play–they just do! There is no right or wrong way to music, but rather doing what works for you. And this is something I help my students when I teach them, making the music theirs so that it becomes more attuned to their true self.
