Yaroslav Kargin is internationally renown concert violist. He received his musical education at Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire and the Yale University School of Music. As a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player, Mr. Kargin has performed and recorded in Moscow, St. Petersburg, throughout Russia and the former Soviet Union, Japan, China, South Korea, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the former Yugoslavia, Hungary, the United States, Brazil and Argentina. Mr. Kargin has performed with world-renowned conductors and soloists, including Kurt Masur, Valery Gergiev, Mstislav Rostropovich, Isaac Stern, Montserrat Caballe and Evgeny Kissin among others. Currently he is playing numerous solo and chamber music recitals and with symphonies and other groups frequently as the principal violist, including the Young Soloists of New York Chamber Orchestra, Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra New England, Canterbury Choral Society, Greenwich Choral Society, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Yale Glee Club and Yale Camerata. Mr. Kargin is a frequent performer at Carnegie Hall, Broadway and Yamaha Artists Studios. He is on the International Advisory Board of the Connecticut International Young Artist Competition and was a juror for the Competition in 2006 and 2007. Mr. Kargin has been cast to play violin on-camera in film productions, including “Everybody’s Fine” with Robert de Niro, “Sex and the City 2”, and the current HBO series “Mildrey Pierce”. Mr. Kargin has taught at Gnessins’ Russian Academy of Music (Moscow, Russia), Yale School of Music, the Interlochen Center for the Arts. He is on the faculty at the Festival Eleazar de Carvalho in Fortaleza, Brazil, as Professor of Viola.
